Elite Hockey Skate Profiling
The Elite E-P3 Profiler
K & K Skate offers profiling by the Elite Blade Performance E-P3 skate profiler. The Elite's E-P3 blade profiling machine is the most precise, efficient, and versatile profiling machine on the market today, It offers the widest range of profile options.
Elite profiling offers all standard profiling templates and also adds several proprietary options as well. In addition to single, double, triple, and quad radius profiles, Elite offers a proprietary quad option called the Polaris (large, standard, and junior), proprietary center glide options called SCS (SCS-1, SCS-2, and SCS-3 come in large, standard, and junior.
What is Performance Profiling?
More than anything else, the quality and shape of your blade profile – the curve of your blade from toe to heel — will determine your agility, speed, your power, your performance.
Even very tiny changes in blade shape make a huge difference to the way a player’s blades feel on the ice.
Most stock blades come with a single curve profile, i.e. a 9 or a 10 foot radius. That means the effective skating surface of the blade is shaped in an arc that represents a 10’ circle.
The challenge with the single curve profile is that it always involves trade-offs. Make it flatter and you will increase your speed and stability but lose agility and initial acceleration. Make it more curved and you will increase agility and explosiveness but lose speed and stability.
Performance profiling is about strategically combining several curves on one blade to enhance skating performance. A performance profile might, for example, add a smaller radius curve at the front of the blade, to increase agility and acceleration, while maintaining a larger curve at the back for speed and stability.
With a performance profile, players don’t need to choose between agility and stability, or between speed and explosiveness. By adding different curves in a combined sequence, performance profiles allow players to have it all — more agility, more speed, more stability, and more acceleration.
WHERE DO I Start?
Get started with profiling with this overview from Elite. This video explains the different types of profiles as well as the Elite proprietary profiling options.
Most Popular Player DUOS
Combining two radius curves, the duos are some of the earliest performance profiles. And they are popular with some top players. With a shorter radius curve in the front and a longer curve in the heel, the duos have a good balance of agility and stability. Some players find the transition from toe to heel to be a bit abrupt.

7-13 Player Profile
Great all-around profile, strong glide, some forward pitch feel.
8-12 Player Profile
Similar to 7-13, with slightly less forward pitch feel.
9.5-10.5 Player Profile
This is close to a stock blade. Decent balance of agility and stability with a light feel.
Most Popular Player Triples
Light, agile toe, with a very slight forward pitch feel. Flatter heel provides good stability. Good mix of agility, power, and stability. (Similar to the Prosharp Zuperior)
3.1 Player Profile
The Elite 3.1 player triple profile comes in multiple options. Select the appropriate one based on your skate size. Large = 272 and above. Standard = 254-272. Junior = 246 and below. 272 can be done on standard or large. For more agility go with standard and large for more stability.

Most Popular Player Quads
The quads have four different radius curves, with a more gradual transition between curves than the duos and triples, and provide an excellent balance of speed, power, agility, and stability. Our Quads are very similar to the Prosharp Quads.
Polaris Player Profile
Named to acknowledge the Northern roots of its Finnish creator, Petri Hirvelä, the Polaris is the evolution of the Quad, and the newest profile in our collection. A very agile profile, the Polaris also provides exceptional power and stability, with very smooth transitions. Compared to the other Quads, the Polaris is significantly lighter (more round) in the back which gives it extra agility. The Polaris is quickly becoming a favorite in the Elite collection. For clients who have been skating on a Duo, Triple or Quad, we highly recommend trying the Polaris.
The Polaris comes in Large, Standard, and Junior. Select the appropriate one based on your skate size. Large = 272 and above. Standard = 254-272. Junior = 246 and below. 272 can be done on standard or large. For more agility go with standard and large for more stability.

Center Glide Profiles
The Center Glide profiles flatten an area under the middle of the blade to provide more contact with the ice surface, while the toe and heel sections are comparatively more rockered. The balance point is in the middle of the blade. The traditional CAG-ONE profiles fit into this category. Elite’s SCS series is our most popular and high performing profile in the Center Glide family.
SCS-1 Player Profile
Four radius curves, flattest in the center of the blade. Very powerful and smooth-skating profile, with high top-end speed and powerful turns while preserving agility and explosiveness. The ultimate blend of agility, power, and speed. This is the most agile of the SCS profiles, with the most rockered heel and toe sections.
The Elite SCS-1 player profile comes in multiple options. Select the appropriate one based on your skate size. Large = 272 and above. Standard = 254-272. Junior = 246 and below. 272 can be done on standard or large. For more agility go with standard and large for more stability.
- Large (272 and above)
- Standard (254-272)
- Junior (246 and below)
SCS-2 Player Profile
Has the same mid-foot flatter-radius curves as the SCS-1, but with slightly less rockered heel and toe for greater power and stability.
The Elite SCS-2 player profile comes in multiple options. Select the appropriate one based on your skate size. Large = 272 and above. Standard = 254-272. 272 can be done on standard or large. For more agility go with standard and large for more stability.
- Large (272 and above)
- Standard (254-272)
Center Flat Profiles
Center Flat profiles are designed to increase the area of blade in contact with the ice surface by creating an actual flat section (or infinite radius curve), at or near the middle of a generic mono blade. These profiles come in a variety of lengths of flat section, and also in neutral and more forward- pitched configurations, to meet the needs of skaters of different sizes and skating styles.
These are two main parameters to consider in choosing a Center Flat profile – the length of the flat section, and the “pitch” or angle of the flat section.
In general terms, the longer the flat section, the greater the benefit in terms of speed and glide, but the greater the cost in agility and fluidity of skating. For smaller players skating on shorter blades, it is important not to choose too long a flat section, or there is a risk of a “railroad track” effect where it is difficult to initiate a turn. We recommend that players start small and experiment with larger flats until they find their optimal profile.
ELITE Center Flat profiles are available with flat lengths of 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 millimeters. Each length is available in Neutral (50% in front of blade center, 50% behind), P1 (light forward pitch, with 58% of the flat in front, 42% behind) and P2 (heavier pitch, 67% front and 33% behind).
The following chart shows the standard Center Flat templates along with the comparable CAG profile. The noted lengths in millimeters in front of and behind blade center.

Player Mono Profiles
We recommend our performance profile combinations but understand that some players are more comfortable a simpler option. Mono profiles are designed with one radius for all around performance. They are designed to enhance either Speed, Acceleration, Mobility, or Stability. Mono profiles can be pitched to the skates preference. Mono profiles are the most basic option and will offer the least amount of performance.
We offer nearly all mono radius profile options. Contact us if you don’t see what you’re looking for.
- 7’ to 23’ radius
- 25’ radius
- 27’ Single
- 29’ Single radius
- 30’ Single radius
Most Popular Goalie Profiles
Goalie profiles are much flatter than player profiles, providing superior stability and lateral power, helping the goalie stay in balance and move quickly side-to-side.
The standard line of ELITE Goalie Profile templates includes both Monos and Performance Duos. Many goalies are finding they like the feel of a Performance Duo, with a slightly shorter radius curve in the front.
26-30 Goalie Duo Profile
The goalie duos have a shorter radius curve in the front to add more agility in the front with same stability in the back. These profiles preserve stability, but offer a slightly more aggressive pitch forward, which facilitates quicker lateral movement and allows them to regain their feet more quickly.
26’-30’ DUO Maintains strong stability and control, with agile lateral and up and down movement.
Goalie Mono Profiles
Standard stock goalie blade. Short release zone at each end.
30’ MONO
Standard stock goalie blade. Short release zone at each end.
28’ MONO
Slightly more rockered feel than the 30.
What About Profile Pitch?
Pitch can be added to the skate blades during the profiling process in order to unlock knee bend, quickness, and agility. The Elite E-P3 profiler has a unique top blade mounting system that allows for pitch to be precisely added to your blades every time. Select from the flexible pitch options below for your profile.
N
Neutral pitch, no pitch added to the profile. Equivalent to a stock blade.
P1 - Slight Forward
Add a slight forward pitch to the profile. This option adds 1/64” drop, ~ 8 mm of offset, or .5 degrees of pitch to the blades.
P2 - Moderate Forward
Add a moderate forward pitch to the profile. This option adds 1/32” drop, ~16 mm of offset, or 1 degree of pitch to the blades.
P3 - Aggressive Forward
Add an aggressive forward pitch to the profile. This option adds 3/64” drop, ~24 mm of offset, or 1.5 degrees of pitch to the blades.
Can I MAIL IN MY Blades?
You can absolutely mail in your existing blades for profiling. The Elite profiling top mount profiling system can tackle any blades even if they've been profiled before without knowing the prior history. Just place your order and follow out shipping FAQ in order to send in your blades.
Can My Blades be Re-Profiled
The Elite profiling system’s unique top blade mounting system allows for precision re-profiling while removing the least amount of material. The Elite profiling system does not need to take into account any previous profiles that are on the skate blades allow for a much similar re-profiling process. Other profiling systems are less precise and remove much more material when re-profiling.
