Flare Skate Blades

THE BEST PLAYERS USE THE BEST BLADES.

Some of the biggest names in professional hockey are now taking advantage of Flare skate blade technology. Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks), Aaron Ekblad (Florida Panthers), and Jacob Trouba (New York Rangers) are a few worth mentioning. While some time has passed since this article was initially written and NHL players on Flare have come and gone they are definitely popular with many players.

The Flare skate blades wider design translates to decreased friction, which provides optimal glide and maximum speed; gives you a better edge which creates more bite on tight turns; for an unparalleled experience offering superior stability and control that no other blade can match. The blades fit perfectly into the stock  holders.

Flare blades can also be profiled for the ultimate performance setup. We offer all of our Prosharp custom profiles for Flare blades. Flare 6 Degree Angle

Flare Technology

Flare uses a unique 4.5 mm blade design with a 6 degree angle to achieve high performance results.

An independent study conducted by the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Calgary sought to investigate the difference in performance of the Flare Skate Blade versus traditional skate blades, focusing on friction, acceleration, speed, glide, and turns.

Hollow Conversion

Because the angle of the Flare Skate Blade increases the width of the blades where the steel meets the ice, a hollow adjustment is required. The chart to the right describes the most common sharpening edges for Flare skate blades. Flare blades can be sharpened using a Sparx machine.

SETH JARVIS - CAROLINA HURRICANES

"I really enjoy using the Flare Skate Blades and have noticed a huge difference. I feel faster on the ice, stronger on my turns, and have more stability on my feet."

ANDREW MANGIAPANE - CALGARY FLAMES

"I like the grip the Flare Blades give me on the ice when I'm cutting back on an opponent or turning down low. I also like how I don't lose speed when I do these things which is unlike other blades I've tried."

ADAM FANTILLI - CHICAGO STEEL

"Having more blade on the ice was the biggest advantage that I noticed right away. These blades are the best blades for me."

"I have a new steel that’s called Flare Skate Blade, it’s a thicker steel. It gives me an option to glide more, but be sharper when I turn. I get it [sharpened] at an inch and a half, it’s a big difference. I’ve noticed you need a glide; I used to play with no glide and my legs would kill me. I changed [to Flare Skate Blade] and really notice it."
